Welding I/II

Welding is a 2-year program that prepares students for employment in the field of welding.  This program was developed in partnership with the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation (MCEF).  Welding I students will gain knowledge in safety, basic tools, and Oxyfuel cutting.  Welding II focuses on welding symbols and blueprints, as well as welding techniques and types of welds.  Students have the opportunity to earn NCCER certifications.

Program Components

Welding - Year 1:

  • Introduction, Orientation, & Basic Safety
  • Construction Math, Hand & Power Tools
  • Blueprints, Basic Rigging, Material Handling
  • Base Metal Preparation & Weld Quality, Joint Fit-up & Alignment & Oxyfuel Cutting
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

 

Welding - Year 2:

  • Orientation & Welding Safety Review
  • Welding Symbols & Reading Welding Drawings
  • Plasma and Carbon Arc Cutting, Gouging
  • Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) & Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
