Hi, I am Shelley Munn Akins. I am a native of Ripley and a 1989 graduate of Ripley High School. In 1991, I received a Bachelor of Arts from Northeast Mississippi Community College. I continued my education at Mississippi College, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Also, I received my Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Education through Walden University. I began my teaching career in August 1993, at Blue Mountain Elementary teaching Special Education. In 2008, I joined the Ripley Middle School Staff where I taught Sixth grade Social Studies. In 2012, I left the classroom to become the Media Specialist for Ripley Middle School.
I am married to Sean Akins and we have three children, Bryce, Brant, and Leigh Allison. My family and I are active members of First Baptist Church. We are also involved with Ripley school activities and Scouting.
